Sloppy Joes

1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 large chopped onion
1 chopped green pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can tomato soup
½ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 bay leaf
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste

In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain and transfer to bowl. (or boil and drain)

Saute onion, green pepper and garlic in same skillet until tender. Return ground beef to skillet.

Stir in tomato soup, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, dry mustard, vinegar, lemon juice, brown sugar and bay leaf and mix thoroughly. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with warm toasted hamburger buns.
