Best Roll Out Sugar Cookies
These keep their shape!

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ¾ cup flour
½ teaspoon salt

In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.  Add egg and vanilla and mix well.  Add flour and salt and mix until combined.

Form dough into a disc and wrap in plastic wrap.  Refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Roll out dough to ¼ inch thick and cut into desired shape.  Place cut cookies on baking sheet and refrigerate 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Bake cookies 11-13 minutes until light golden brown around the edges.


Cool completely before decorating.
